The Museum of African American History in Detroit, Michigan is dedicated to the
preservation and presentation of African and African American history and culture. We will
begin our fourth decade in the world's largest Black historical and cultural museum. The
new museum encompasses 120,000 square feet, and will include expanded exhibition
galleries, an orientation theater, classrooms, multi-purpose rooms, a research library and
museum store. It opened to the public on April 12, 1997.
